Dear Massoodji,
I am posting this as I could not see any specific posts like this..
I am currently in US on a H1B visa. I applied for my Canadian immigration in July 2004 (Buffalo office) , got medicals done in May 2005. I got married in July 2005 and my wife is currently in US on a H4 visa. Right now I have got letters to send my passport for stamping immigrant visas.
My questions are
1) How can I get my wife along with me when I immigrate to Canada from US? Should I apply for sponsorship from US itself or is there any other process? Should I do this before sending the passport for stamping?
2) How can I update my marital status before sending the passport for stamping? Is there a separate form for this?. I could not see the form in the details I got from consulate
Please let me know how can I accomplish this.
Thanks
Karthik.
the best thing to do is to fill in the necessary forms to include your Spouse(download on http://www.cic.gc.ca)" rel="nofollow">LINK along with a letter to the respective CHC to explain them your situation. ANd asking them to include your spouse in your file + requesting her medicals, so that she may obtain her visa also.
It may takes another 3/4 months for to get medicals and then your passports together for visa stamping.
Do it quick so that your medicals does not expire.
All the best.

It's VITAL that you include your wife before you immigrate. Do it now.
