There is recognition that this is a problem for foreign trained professionals. Slowly but steadily people are coming forward to find solutions..bit by bit..day by day.

Morning rain: since how long have these solutions being implemented and recognised. I read somewhere in 80's. Wow more than 25 yrs have passed and where are they still sitting at 0. Or maybe Canadians don't know anything beyond 0.![]()

Babail:
As I mentioned, solutions are being sought, studied and implemented slowly but surely. Foreign credential recognition through provincial agencies or through professional associations, Wage subsidy programs for foreign trained professionals, retraining etc as required. Yes, unfortunately people do fall through the cracks. However we are not at zero. There are many foreign trained professionals that are doing well and have found employment in their line of work.
Making a crack such as "Or maybe Canadians don't know anything beyond 0." is insulting and demeaning to me. If you dont have any regard for Canadians then why are you here? I will use the word 'hypocritical' here - especially when people want the name and passport of Canada but dont hesitate to critisize Canada and Canadians.
If you do not like your life the way it is, only you have the power to change it.
Babail,
Good analysis and Good points.
I will leave my discussion here for obvious reasons.

But seems to me you don't like ur's. Otherwise you wouldn't be so hostile. I haven't said anything against Canada. But if Canadians act or want to close their minds, be open to comments. You said ur spouse is in the same boat as lot of other immigrants, how does he feel. I am sure he must be blaming Canada or Canadians. How do you manage to take his remarks, or is there a WW2 each day in the house![]()
Also if we want Canadian passports etc, Canadian economy requires us. U guys can't even sustain the requirements of keeping ur population level. Birth rate is so low that the economy has to get in 250,000 + immigrants each year. If it wasn't for all these ppl. you wouldn't have enough crops as there won't be enough ppl farming, if it wasnt' for them, you won't have ppl at gas stations, if it wasnt' for them you wouldn't have PHD's driving taxis.

May be I am not getting some thing right here, the discussion is going way out of the actual topic/context.
Can some one put in bullet points 1,2,3,4,5, .......... what exactly are the disadvantages / drawbacks of becoming Canadian Citizen ?
AS a prospective citizen of Canada I would love to know these de-merits as well.
Thanks
N,
There is actually no real drawback in obtaining Canadian Citizenship as now india offers OCI, and you can renounce your Canadian Citizenship at any time.
The only drawback is psycological. Since you have it , the more it compels you to stay back or visit the country more often.
if you are not a n IT person or a Labourer, then Canada really is not the place to be. It is not a country for prefessionals (again this is only my view)

I did not intend to write harshly. I was responding to your words that canadians only know 0. Where did that comefrom?
I want to learn more about the Immigrant perspective - issues problems and concerns - this is why I am here on this board.
My husband felt as you (and many others here ) do. It is a struggle because Im an employment counsellor working under Service Canada (HRDC) .. for him and I, everyday is a different learning experience and I know he learns from my perspective and I learn from his.
Good luck.
