Drawbacks of Canadian Citizenship

I saw an interseting post regarding the benefits of Canadian citizenship. I am just thinking about the cons of getting CDN citizenship. I got the book called "A look in Canada" and saw the anthem section. Heaven only knows how much I adore Tagore and Indian national anthem. Looking at the book I am even thinking of withdrawing the application. According to the philosopher Wayne Dyer , "what if my whole life has gone wrong?". I came to this country with the sole aim of passport and when I am there I don't feel like taking it.
What do you guys think?? Is it a good idea to take the citizenship?? I know OIC is a reality now but that won't make me a full Indian.

One clear drawback is you will be Overseas citizen of India and not a regular Indian passport holder. Many things in India (like tution fees for your kids in engineering or medical colleges in India) will be costly as you are deemed as an NRI.

Even after dual-citizenship ?
One way around that could be one person holding a canadian passport and the spouse holding an Indian Passport. That would work I think.

What was written in the book that made you question your decision? Also, you wrote "I came to this country with the sole aim of passport". Can you please clarify. Thanks

I came to this country 4 years back. At that time my aim was to get the CDN PP and flee Canada . But now I am slowly starting to think whether it's really worth to take the citizenship. I was reading some historical stuff in the book and I compared it with the vast history of our country . Mahatma Gandhi fougt for freedom and gave us title Indian. We are loosing the nationality for some materialistic gains.

its too bad you werent able to research and realize this before taking the pain and financial burden of applying.
One more thing: Many people here including myself are proud to be Canadians. The passport and identity are part and parcel of who we are. Its really only your loss that you wanted to get ur passport and "flee". IF you feel you are a proud "indian" that wont be lost regardless where you go. What you lose is up to you. Please dont blame a country.
