Perhaps many of us have gone through this, but don't want to remember these unpleasant situations. However the moment we land here, we expect everything to be perfect!.

Let's face it. The systems here are not perfect, and lot needs to be done. There are webs of politics, corporate greed and red tape around these issues. It would make sense to write to George Smitherman the minister for health in Ontario. Let us petition him and ask him to do something about these waiting times.

Rather than get cynical, lets's act. Any takers?

Exactly my point! Perhaps people who have come to Canada from another country (not just India) are forgetting that perhaps life wasn't that great in their original countries to begin with and made the decison to move to Canada. And when Canada doesn't meet their high and unrealistic expectations of a fabulous life, they start to wander why they came to Canada.

The topic has floated from Canadian healthcare to something completely different.

Please everyone, try to stick to the topic at hand.

We'll never know about that will we? :p . Honestly, I do not know. What I do know is that women are sexual beings just as men are. To deny this only serves to subjugate women, period. I think its the insecurity men have that brings out the need to repress sexuality...especially in their women(wives/daughters/sisters).

Just wait...someone is going to say that now I'm encouraging women to be porn stars. :p

BTW: I quite like Josey Vogels...she does hold those views. Seems to work for her judging by her popularity.

I totally agree with you Jake. Just as men are sexual beings, so are women. To say otherwise would be to state that woman are only here to serve as men's sexual outlet.

I don't think talking about sex makes everyone go out there and have sex in the open street as one CD member has stated. And to not talk about it (whether in schools, or in the home or as conversation between adults) makes the subject even more tantalising to someone who may want to go out and experiment....and this is where the trouble starts. Someone who has not had proper sexual education is more at risk of getting pregnant or getting someone pregnant or transferring/contracting an STD.

There is data to support the fact that there is a higher rate of teenage pregnancy among nations that have lower educational levels and higher rates of poverty. Many factors can affect a persons decisions in life such as physical/medical/social factors that include religion, law, culture, moral values, beliefs, education, economic circumstances, support structure (eg, family and friends) mental and emotional.

In the Netherlands, progressive sex education at a young age has reduced the number of teenage pregnancies compared to North America and the UK. The Netherlands have social support systems and contraception readily available for teenagers if ever needed and they progressively educate young girls about sex and arm them with the neccessary facts about sex to help them make thier own decisions when the time comes.

Education is a progressive discovery of our own ignorance.
Against logic there is no armor like ignorance

Here is an essay by Deepak Chopra on sex and spirituality on his blog. I found it interesting and hopefully others may too. Please note point 9.

thanks

Everything is particular to each individual.

There are ppl. like Buddha, Mahavir and many more etc who became peaceful etc by going away from a sex filled life.

As with anything else a parents role is probably to suggest a direction to take. Avoiding the topic is probably more harmful. Just my opinion...does it make me a porn star babail ?:D

Would society accept your views (and would you state your views) if you were a woman?

I do agree with you though.

As I said before, don't avoid the topic. :D It's fun. Strange thing is that though parents talk to kids about non-voilence, gun problem etc, but each day we hear more problems relating to kids aggression and gun problems in teenagers.

Is it because of the video games, is it too much talk about it in school, is it because of seeing guns available around them???? Same thing about sex, too much shows and games depicting sex, too much talk in school, seeing condoms etc around u????

I didn't say ur a porn star. I only said that if it's such a imp. part of ur identity, I felt the only reason it can be so is because u might be one. My opinion :D
