Hi,
I don't know from where I start but it's a fact that the services of the regie are not to the
international common standards at all of which 3rd world countries are doing much better.
Welll, I've been in Canada Qc., for only 3months, I got a job and Iam pioneer in it of which
I become the Boss Leader in less than 2 weeks work. Besides I hold a Bachelor degree in
Math from an American Univ.
Well, yesterday I took my wife as an emergency woman case to a nearest Hospital and
I spent more than 5 hours for nothing except normal checkings and paper procedure done
here and their. I talked in person to the one who is in charge and SHE said that she has only
2 doctors right away and you have to wait. I waited and nothing happened as well as for all
citizens in the Hall of which one common thing was among us all which is PAIN and ANGER.
I enetred the Red Line to see what are the doctors doing inside and I found them busy in filling
things on computers and have like team members of senior students getting instructions.
Well, what a chit, it's not business here and if it's it has to be done with customer on the 1st concern.
It's not a restaurent and if it's it has to deliver the services and the meal with Quality on time.
.
.
I've been in different public hospitals worldwide and I think the stratgey is completely different...
(If wanna listen I can let you know)...I wanna add that Iam not going to go their anymore in my
whole life because I don't trust the service quality and their commitments. (I heard many stories of
doctor mistakes done here and their of which it has to set them to jail and let the hospital close).
Is it Canada? I believe it is not and you should do something to stop such a stupid situation of which
the main blame goes on the shoulders of admin. and Hospital strategy not more as well as on the quality
management control service...
I can talk till morn...I will not.. few words do express the miserable situation. You can postpone a party or a
meeting BUT you can't postpone disease, pain and death.
Back to our case. I went then holding my little daughter to a clinic of which we met a general doctor after waiting
for about 3 hours (Iam Lucky) and he said that he's to forward us to a specialist. I callled the specialist and she said you have
to take an appointment of which I discovered it'll be for the next month (I Laughed then to Earth !) -I called my friends and been
forwarded by phone to two other doctors and the situation is the same. (WOW it's my 1st time in my Life I come to know that you can date
with a disease at a certian hour and you can admit the fact that you covince yourself that "hey. pain. stop now.. I took an appointment with
a Dr. next month"- cause I usually date with a woman, not more.).
I went back tired after I spent the whole day from 8am morn till 6pm for NOTHING... Shit on the system.. Shit on the admin... Shit on the strategy...
I wanna say more in person if anyone would listen...
You ask me what happened then... Iam not stupid that much.. Iam not a robot with blind eyes happy for the taxes to pay in return of a good life service...
that what I expect -- -- that what I didn't get --- anyhow I opened an International call with my Specialist Dr. in my origin country and she gave the prescriptions
by phone after detailed explanations...My wife get cured...The Dr. asked us of where are we now and I was ashamed to tell her that Iam in the "country of Dreams"...
Country of the "white snow" , "soul purification" , "human rights", "1st ranked country", ...
Thanks for your time to listen
Let me hear from you soon.

Sorry to hear about your situation. I am not entirely sure if you are referring to service at a regular clinic or an emergency room(because you refer to your wife as an emergency woman). If are talking about an emergency room, then unfortunately, I am not surprised with these wait times. Whether it be in the US or Canada, from personal experience I know that unless the patient is in absolute critical condition, wait times in emergency rooms can be horrendous. I know you said you have seen many public hospitals all over the world.. I can't speak for the rest of the world but it is true in the case of the US and Canada.
Are you also sure you were able to communicate with them properly..? being that you are in Quebec ?
johny25.... whoa.... and we used to think it is our experience only.
My friends used to tell us their similar stories, but only after similar experiences on our own, I had to agree abt bad state of medicals. Medical staff seems to be more documentation oriented than patient/cure oriented! And the waiting times are just ridiculous.
On the Lighter side, Last year, my friend was vomitting beyond control, went to local clinic, waited for abt 5 hours in midnight. In the mean time, he had already vomitted so much, that he was already fine on his own. And his feelings were worth noticing when Doctor said - u r alright, why r u here?
To see your lovely medical system, I guess!

What's your location and where city hospital did u take your wife into ?
Thanks

We will find a way or we will make one
There are pros and cons to this system. Let me refer to these two as BRIGHTER SIDE and SICKER SIDE.
I dont agree that this is the best way to manage and i am equally frustrated by it.
On the brighter side,
My father-in-law had gone for a routine checkup with his cardiologist. Based on his results, he was asked to check-in at the hospital right away, and after a day, he had a open-heart bypass. Not to forget it was free.
On the sicker sider,
On the next bed, there was a patient who had waited 10 months for a open-heart bypass.
Be totally surprised if the politicians here too have same wait times...
Now, Not that i dont understand ur situation and frustration. I have had my share of similar experiences which have been equally if not more frustrating.
I am not forgetting the burearcracy that gets in to enforce rules so that this type of free-systems are not abused. They are also dealing with budget issues and salary negotiations.
All depends on the gap between ur scale of seriousness and theirs.
The registration nurse evaluates ur situation and sets up the priority. If ur wife could sit thru for 5 hours, and ur daughter for 3 hours (after which she was good enough to be referred to a specialist who would see her in a month), My guess is that it wasnt serious enough on their scale. Not that they could have done better with more resources, but given 2 doctors, they would rather attend a life-death situation on a priority basis.
I am not saying that this is how it should work. Atleast most if not everyone is treated the same here.

My Experience:
In the month of February, 2005 (when it was COOOLLLDDD!!! outside), my 3 years old daughter got sick. She did not have fever or sore throat or something but one night her nose was bleeding and that too in the middle of the night like it was fresh blood and no clots etc. The very next morning we took her to the doctor and he told us that he'll have to refer her to a ENT specialist because he was unable to make any comments on that. That was Feb. 20th and the next day we got call from the same nursing home that they have booked the EARLIEST appointment with the specialist on March 21st.
In the meantime, we talked to one of our friends who is a doctor but is going to USA next month for the job because she could not get a job in Canada. She advised us after the thorough check-up that it is nothing but because of the dryness and she told us to do couple of 'Ghrelu Nuskhas' like applying some baby oil or 'Desi Ghee' inside the nose. We did that and just after couple of days our daughter was fine.
