Hi

Good posts by Meghal and TK. Very interesting point were made in these posts.

People who got Canadian citizenship should not blame Canada. They only applied for citizenship and got it.

Good point Duncan, if one really loves this country for what it is, then stay indian all the way....I've been here for 4 years now and not even given thought to aquiring my Canadian citizenship...it's not going to make a blind bit of difference to me if I get it or not...how would it affect my life anyway?? In fact, I've kept my British citizenship....I guess people from india don't have much value in thier Indian citizenships so feel the need to get the Canadian one.....and then have the nerve to B**ch about the country.....

I agree with meghal, and I who loves canada and as well love India, too think that if a person becomes canadian and then say that he is a patriotic person for India, it is a nonsence act.
It was ur decision to file for the immigration and not the govt came to knock ur door to ask that pleaseeeeeeee come to Canada, we are missing ur great knowledge which u guys have put up in building India.

and what taxes u guys are talking bout, yeah in India u might have kept that money in ur banks but here u have to pay. thats the diff that comes straight in ur mind when u take ur decision of going back to India.

a good citizen who has paid regular taxes in India, don't complain bout taxes in Canada. it is the contribution we guys make in building up our nation, our home, our roads.

I am awaiting the decision of govt when they will change this stupid immigration system, and only parents will be allowed to immigrate. so that what u guys called "highly educated people" like u don't complain of canada. and as per my words with local MP, the new system will only permit workers for temporary visa and not PR as before. and it will depend on the availability of jobs in local market.

We are here for last 8 years, leaving with our son for India in May 2006, have never taken canadian citizenship. Always travelled on Indian passport throughout the world.

But still those who take canadian citizenship, I don't blame them as well. Think, if your kids are in preteens, parents don't want them to grow in this atmosphere but if they have canadian citizenship they can easily come to any country (US, Europe) if they want, when they grow up. So there is nothing wrong & now they can apply for OCI & regain the partial Indian citizenship as well.

Love for your country is the people that you are connected with, relatives, friends, history, food, culture. I don't think the piece of paper really change anything.

You came to this country to gain something, you gained it in the form of citizenship..simple.

After reading too many posts about people returning to India.

I do not question their decision. I could also have been a few of them. But I am just talking about an ethical question.

It seems that many people are returning to India after spending three years and having a Canadian citizenship. Many people do not want to raise their child in Canadian environment, but still want a Canadian citizenship.

Just wondering, is there any statistics about how many people return back to India within 3 years versus people going back to India after getting their citizenship?

If one goes after getting their citizenship, how ethical it is to have a Canadian citizenship, but question the Canadian way of life? How ethical it is to not raise your children in western world, but still give them a Canadian passport?

If you hate this country so much, why care for a citizenship?

Seems like a double standard to me, when judged purely on an ethical basis

I am amazed at how people think by making a living here they they are owed a passport. That because you can apply for it, that it is guaranteed. And they do not see anything UNETHICAL about just coming to Canada to get a passport and leaving. Please allow me to educate the so called EDUCATED ones.

By getting a passport, you are swearing an allegiance to the country and its leader(s). And the country is affording you it's protection under the charter. Afterall that is why you are getting the passport. Do you see the unethical, immorality of the issue? Or would you like me to spell it out for you? That is why many countries that allow dual citizenships (like India) have a special class for non-residents. It is UNETHICAL and IMMORAL to swear allegiance to two different countries. Unless you are Indians, then it means nothing to you. Just like it means nothing to buy pirated DVDs, just like it means nothing to steal satellite signals. Disgusting!

And let me repeat something that I have said over and over - maybe some people here will get it - eventually. The country or goverment or anybody for that matter, does not owe anyone here a job.

Finally, if you wish to escape the drugs, sex, vulgarity etc etc ... do not go back to india. Because guess what's coming to a school near you in India? I think your best bet is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia! Oh, Joy!

Why is it "idiotic"?

Has anyone ever referred to any of your posts as Idiotic even if they think they are.

Jasmeek you are the rudest person I have ever come across!
No one will take your views seriously unless you can articulate them in a sensitive manner.
