After reading too many posts about people returning to India.

I do not question their decision. I could also have been a few of them. But I am just talking about an ethical question.

It seems that many people are returning to India after spending three years and having a Canadian citizenship. Many people do not want to raise their child in Canadian environment, but still want a Canadian citizenship.

Just wondering, is there any statistics about how many people return back to India within 3 years versus people going back to India after getting their citizenship?

If one goes after getting their citizenship, how ethical it is to have a Canadian citizenship, but question the Canadian way of life? How ethical it is to not raise your children in western world, but still give them a Canadian passport?

If you hate this country so much, why care for a citizenship?

Seems like a double standard to me, when judged purely on an ethical basis

What is so unethical about it? It is a very practical decision.

Every professional immigrant who comes to Canada comes by applying to immigrate for a fee, wait for the application to be processed and then pays a ROLF, lands in Canada with a plane ticket paid by himself and slogs here for 3-4 years in labour jobs/ hard jobs etc, pays his taxes, rents/buys a Canadian house/ apt., pays GST/PST for every product he buys and spends so much money in Canada which indirectly benefits Canada.
He gets legally his Citizenship and leaves Canada, b'cos he might have a better offer in the Gulf/ India/USA/ Elsewhere. When he does everything legally, how can it be not an ethical incident? Once this person is out of Canada, he will be governed by the future rules of Canada. If the govt. later says that Non Canada born citizens canot return back to this great land after 5 years of being outside the country, then this individual with a CAnadian passport has to respect it .
OTH, India might have paid for his subsidised education, many individuals might not have paid taxes in India etc... So in this case , was it / is it ethical for the person to leave india in the first place?
A person has a right to hate this country if he has done everything legally for this country and yet this country is unable to give him a decent job which in turn affects his future, way of living , savings etc.... In this regard, it is perfectly ethical for this person to take a Canadian passport and leave. Holding a Canadian passport does not give you a $1000 per month free money from the govt. while you sit in the gulf/india. It is used as a back up. If the person wants to come back to Canada after the age of 65 and use OSA/ free medical/ free pharma etc.., what is wrong. He was here initially, worked hard (in labour job) paid his taxes and yet the govt. was not able to provide him a decent job, living, status etc..
The reason why people donot want to raise their children in Canada between the ages of 7 to 18 (incl. myself) is b'cos there is too much negetive things going on in Canadian schools like drugs, dating, vulgarity, filthy words, unpractical education, child molestors etc. etc... So in the interest of the child, they are sending them to India. They are Canadian citizens and they have a right to come back to Canada whenever their parents want them to, as long as these "Individuals" can pay for their flight ticket to Canada. What is unethical in it. IF in india, they pay fees for schools and in Canada (most of them come after finishing +2) they still have to pay for their post . sec. education. Note that Canadian post sec. education is not free. Anyway it is a boon to Canada, if these children leave during secondary education since sec. education is free in Canada, and having less children means that the teacher can pay special attention to more deserving Canadian children studying in Canada. If you see it in a legal way, these children are not entitiled to Child tax benifit if they are outside Canada. Therefore it is actually in the Canadian govt's interest that these children go to India or elsewhere to study secondary education.

TK's Reply -> I can question the your statement in an ethical way :
If ones leaves india ,after being an Indian citizen, being educated in a highly subsidised fee structure, having property which might have appricated 10 times in the past 20 or 30 years to come to Canada just b'cos it offered you more salary than your previous job in India and then you cry foul that india is a country full of Rascals, Idiots, Begging people, rife with corruption, that water comes only once in a week, that the roads are bad etc...
I ask you, Would you renounce your indian citizenship and promise never to visit that cursed place again even though your near and dear ones are there? You would not , would you? Everyone tries to be smart ,ethical and most importantly practical, no matter in which country you are.
and Megal, I also hate people who practice double standards or in other words do not practice what they preach.
I also assume that these double standard people , save their money in India for 7.5% interest rather than 3.5% at ICICI Canada Branch or the 3.0% at the local ING bank.
May Operwallah bless your tribe richly.

Meghal,

How ethical it was when you got your subsidised education, etc. from India and without giving anything back? None of the immigrant had planned to go back (before coming here), but have to go back due to what happens here?

TK, good job, carry-on.

I agree that it is purely once decision for living here or returning back to India, but y only after taking citizenship of canada? if u really love ur country then y not u remain Indian all the way?
I agree with meghal, and I who loves canada and as well love India, too think that if a person becomes canadian and then say that he is a patriotic person for India, it is a nonsence act.
It was ur decision to file for the immigration and not the govt came to knock ur door to ask that pleaseeeeeeee come to Canada, we are missing ur great knowledge which u guys have put up in building India.

and what taxes u guys are talking bout, yeah in India u might have kept that money in ur banks but here u have to pay. thats the diff that comes straight in ur mind when u take ur decision of going back to India.

a good citizen who has paid regular taxes in India, don't complain bout taxes in Canada. it is the contribution we guys make in building up our nation, our home, our roads.

I am awaiting the decision of govt when they will change this stupid immigration system, and only parents will be allowed to immigrate. so that what u guys called "highly educated people" like u don't complain of canada. and as per my words with local MP, the new system will only permit workers for temporary visa and not PR as before. and it will depend on the availability of jobs in local market.
