Here in Vancouver I feel like chinese are most as compare to anyone. Even in IT chinese are lot atleast at my work same like Indians in US IT. Here I donot see lot of Indians in IT (Vancouver), not sure why?
Couple of reasons...
1. What is the major sector in Canada. ? Service Sector 70%
2. What is the major industry in Service sector - Financial Institution.. including Bank, Insurance etc.., etc..,
3. Which sector employs more IT Jobs.? Service Industry.
4. What is the most common alternative career, IT people consider for themselves and suggest their relatives and friends ? Finance (Service Industry).
5. Which Province has the largest Service sector / industry based economy ? ON (Toronto region).
6. Where do you see most IT and Finance Jobs in Canada..and where do most of the Indians feel relatively more comfortable interms of neighbourhood, more friends, more relatives, ethnicity.. Unfortunately it is not Vancouver (May the be the second, but Toronto Scores first..)..
BTW, I moved from Siliconvalley after 7+ yrs there and Vancouver is probably the most appropriate place in terms of same weather, but you know employment and comfort for the family scores high than 4 months of freezing weather.. In fact, I wanted to go Halifax and live a more relaxed life..
I hope many members agree to my views about Toronto.
Atleast in another 3-4 years I will try to convince my family to move East towards Halifax.. Unless wife and kid nod, its again not gonna work out..
Hey, Im not eligible to raise "Conflict of interests"... Poor Desi boy..

Oh Yes JRF. I agee Toronto have most of the jobs in IT. I got the job offer here in Vancouver first time and then switch to another here.
Vancouver is place where people bring money to spend from other part of world so those people donot need jobs.
Even down the line in few months I would like to head Alberta where I can afford a decend house. In decent Vancouver area average townhome with good finish cost half million + today's gas price is 1.18 here.
- Housing price is one another hidden cause that prevented me moving to Vanco..
- Isn't it true that Calgary (And rest of alberta may be) heading towards a steep home price hike ? May still worth considering the reserves...
- Considering the Gas price, I will seriously consider to commute using Public Transit and reserve the car for weekends.... You save Gas, miles / depreciation, environment, Insurance, safety etc.., etc.,
Wish you good luck with your move..

Alberta especially Calgary is going high in price but very much affordable as compare to Vancouver or Toronto. I stayed in San Jose, CA and few yrs in NY,PA. Most the place US house market is stagnant. Price is not moving and mortgage rate is going high. In Canada I am not seeing that trend for house market. I assume Canada follow US 1 yr behind. But in Vancouver these chapta (chinki) people have money like crazy. 22 yrs old chinki kids drive Porsche or M3. Halifax is good option if find a job and booming city. I have 2 weeks summer vacation in Atlantic Canada next year. This year BC and Yukon.
whos is cheating whom? Check the official immigration website, they show so many professions in demand! how many immigrants get those professions. Who puts the professions in demand on official website, of course govt. of canada. Has there been any survey by canadian govt. so see that how many of immigrants get the job in the category they applied for immigration? They do not bother they want CLARKS and labourers nothing more.
again same old topic is discussed, can't we have any other thing instead of indian job market vs canadian?
carry on guys if u want, but I am not going to waste my time on such topics anymore. as I realise one thing, neither people returning to India will agree to our points who wish to stay here. and nor we will listen to them.
so y to write unnecessary when this topic is discuseed several times..............
