Unfortunately life for most waiters working in Indian resturant are full of exploitation.. To start with ...Underpaid and then their tip money is collected by the greedy owner.
The other day passing by I read about sweat shops run buy Nike in Asia, it made me think. But i realized situation in our Indian restutrants in Canada are very similar

If you have any suggestion to improve this situation please be free to discuss.

Hi,
Do you have any concrete examples as to how these waiters are swindled and the tip money being kept by the owner.
As i know, waiters are mostly students or people on study permit who need bably any amount of money for the hardest of work.
It would be nice if someone shares True experiences of how people are exploited this way. Please donot tell " i think" or "i assume". Only true examples.

Sidenote : If your statement is True, then nothing can be done to change this situation as many people working as waiters are illegals( know many myself, but did not ask them if their owner pocketed their tips). If they are legal workers, them most of them prefer to work in a Gora bar where lots of tips are given. In 2002, there was a Andhra restaurant, where you had to wait and clean dishes and help in the cutting. Work was 10 hrs a day or so with 6 days a week work. The compensation was free shared accomodation, food and tax free $1000 a month. I did not ask about the tips. But they expected commitment for atleast 1 year.

Loser,
It is not bad being born an Indian. May be it is bad to be born as an indian and get admission to one of the crooked institutes of Canada. The institute is bad and you need money for your studies, food, shelter etc... That is when it bcomes bad for an Indian. I know one or 2 people as such. One person that i know was rejected foir Visa in USA. He took the next best option in Canada. Unfortunately, the institute that he joined in was worse than the college he studied in India. He spent a lot of money to come here and he wanted not to drain his dad's resources in India. He took the job as a waiter. He studies from 8 am to 4:00 pm and then works from 4:30 pm to midnight. the horrible thing is he travels 4 hrs a day to his institute, shelter and work place. Institute is 5 days a week., work 6 days a week. This is the reason why servers/ waiters have no choice but to join a restaurant illegally. The owners of the restaurant's know this and exploit accordingly.
Again , i repeat, Most of the indian's working as servers are illegally working there. Restaurants are one of the biggest avenues for employment for illegal/ student workers. So it is a sort of being an only option.
Some Desi's after immigrating and not being able to find a job also work as servers. That may be b'cos it might be much better than working in an assembly line lifing 30 lbs. all the 8 hrs. of the shift. I have been through this and it is not pleasurable.
