I am a Canadian Citizen Born in India and planning on applying for PIO.
It has been a while i became a Canadian Citizen and I do not find my EXPIRED Indian Passport anywhere.
Do they approve my PIO request without my EXPIRED Indian Passport. I could get a COPY of my Indian passport from my old employer with a lot of struggle.
Any one was in this situation? Please advise
Sent several emails to Indian consulates in US and Canada. Got No respose. Thanks A lot.
The PIO card info on Indian consulate website mentions " Documentary evidence to show that the applicant is a person of Indian origin as defined."
As long as you prove that you were Indian citizen.. that should be enough
I have one question, if you did not have a valid indian passport, how were you allowed to write the canadian citizenship exam?
Note: emails do not elicit any repies because they get thousands of emails each day
My advice- compile all documents / paperwork as required for PIO card
and then apply.

Normally they stamp the Indian passport that the holder has obtained Canadian citizenship.
In your case, why not try going to the consulate and talk to them

I Should have saved it in a safe place. Thanks Again and i will try to contact the Consulate(s). I guess i need to take a day off and try calling them again and again.
