DT ,
Thanks for the objective approach.
Then you do agree that "Canada is not facing massive professional workers shortages" as advertised by stats canada and others but that it is "facing only hard factory labour shortages". Canada is actually saturated with local gora workers in the professional fields (for many professions) and that immigration canada is just bringing all tom, dick and harry who apply for reasons taht only the govt. of canada knows.
This is all that i want the forum to know. If you are a professional and you immigrate to Canada, it is not easy to get a job. It is very hard and sometimes will seem impossible. If you want to rise above the rest, then you might have to upgrade yourself, volunteer, change professions and for all this you need lots of spare money. This iswhat i have been meaning all along.

Yup, I agree with a lot of what you said. However, the point remains - why does a person move to Canada? If all they want is more professional advancement, then isn't it kind of stupid to assume that Canada WILL offer better career oppurtunities for that profession? A lot of immigrants move to Canada under that assumption and when ground reality hits, start to get frustrated. You know what they say about Assuming?

ASSUME makes an ASS out of U and ME ;)

1) Stats Canada does not "advertise". It is not a sales and marketing firm. It is a statistical Branch of the govt that reports on findings.

2) There are known shortages in professional fields across Canada - at present Trades is the biggest one. It takes 4 years to become a Trades Person and Tradespeople are well respected as professionals in their fields. Earning potential is huge.

3) Canada is not the only country Saturated with 'local goras'. Have you been to Europe? Even the US is majority white. Why do you persist in complaining about Canada?

4) A person earning $12 can make a huge difference to their own life if they choose to. ITs not easy but it wont be impossible.

You have not presented any new information or facts. You write "its not easy to get a job". Newsflash! Do you think the last 400 threads didnt allude to the same thing?

As Ive mentioned to you many times before, you seem very bitter about your own life. Everyone including you has a big hand in the making of your own destiny including your present situation.

There is a saying "get an attitude of gratitude" . There are people in worse situations than YOU. My husband just got laid off last week. He would be GLAD to have a $12/hr job. He used to work as a CTO. Guess what? thats life!!

What country in the world WILL guarantee Every person that migrates there better career opportunities?

Expectations are usually the problem...

Yup, I agree. This is specially a problem in India where most people imagine USA & Canada to be some kind of an Alladin's Cave. I still hear "aur bhai kitne note chaap raha hey" from my friends and relatives in India and the usual requests for CamCorders, MP3 Players, Laptops etc. etc. everytime I or any member of my family visits India.

MR,
I am glad to answer point by point
Point 1 : What are stats. meant to do other than advertise? Stats. tell you if the ecomony needs jobs or not and the govt. cheates people with the statistics. What do they mean when they say that "by 2010, immigrants will over take the gora's as the main community in the GTA". though they will not say that 90 % of the immigarnts will be in a lesser job /labour job and work just to survive or work here since they were systamatically cheated and now they have no other option other than staying in Canada.
Point 2 : Then bring tradespeople. Donot give immigration to professionals
Point 3 : i said or meant : "Gora's in all professional jobs leaving no professional job openings for immigrants"
ponit 4 : yeah ! a $12 salary will make a huge difference to a labourer in India and who migrated here. Not to a professional who had a good job / future inwhich ever country they were
point 5 :i am sorry that your husband got laid off and hope that he gets a better job soon
And your statement MR : Guess what? thats life!!
Should be reworded to :
Guess What ? that's life IN CANADA. (to which i agree)

MR,
No country guarentee's a job but many countries have a lot of job openings.
Canada is the only country which bloats up it labour requirements and just bring in immigrants without seeing if they are able to settle people with decent jobs. Why does this country have to bring in 250,000 people from around the world when social organaisations tell the govt. that Canada still has a long to go in even removing the barriers of foreign trained professionals being recoconised .
Why does the govt. always tell that Canada has an aging population and only that immigrants can fill the shortfalls in the labour markets when :
1. No shortfalls on professionals jobs are seen as on date
2. Barriers still exist big time in recogonising foreign credentials (other than IT)
Imagine , a country which brings 250K immigrants each year and there is no settlement services at all at the airport. What kind of discrimination is this? How do they expect people to find jobs when there is no service to even bring them out of the airport?

From what i understand, you can get all types of electronics in India. Why do relatives ask for those?

I wouldnt ever dream of asking someone else to buy me an electronic.

No offense intended..but thats tactless.

ps- my relatives did the same thing to my parents as well.
