Hi,
I have dish installed by a desi guy, who used to maintain it in the event of change in the key periodically by the network, this worked well for 6 months, now the receiver has stopped functioning , and the guy asks me to replace the receiver costing $200/, is this the way this is functioning please share your experiences as this is new for me.
Does any one has any better alternatives to suggest??

Around the last week of May, BEV & DN changed the encryption strength to 768 bit. Some receivers with a slower processor stopped working at that point. As it stands today, a receiver should have a minimum speed of 133 Mhz to work. Besides some of the clones in the market too stopped working.
It's very likely that your receiver may not be able to work again. If you plan on investing in a new receiver, do your homework before you invest (once again).
