Try one of the National Parks around - I've been to Sibbald (north on Markham road), and Dalington (on 401 (around Whitby).

Try Barrie. It is around 77 kms. from North York on Hwy. 400 North. Been to it this week. There is a Park along the edge of Lake Simcoe where you can relax and have a picnic. There is also a portion with a lifegueard for small children to swim. There is also a ferry giving rides (this is for a fee) every 2 hours or so around Lake Simcoe. But that is all that is there.
I am also looking at places to go (within 1 hr. from Toronto) this long weekend.
I have finalised Kitchener-Waterloo-Guelph areas. Can anyone tell me what is good in these places to look at? Other place recommendations are also welcome !!!

Sidenote : In Barrie, the parking rates (mon. to Fri) are very low. It is 10 cents an hour, 20 cents an hour etc... The max. cost i saw in Downtown was 40 cents an hour. What low rates yarr........ Also i could not find any desi at Barrie during my 6 hour stay at barrie. Many establishments looked surprised to serve/ see desis (which is me and my 2 north indian friends). People were quite helpful in those areas to give us directions.

Sidenote 3: Has any one been to the Village of kleinburg? It is a very nice , old town look place with all historic buildings. It is nice for a stroll. It is located on Islington avanue north of steels (about 15 kms. north of steels). There is a bookshop made of wooden logs which is quite nice.. The street looks like it is around 200 years old and this stretch of the street is just for about 300 metres. They also have an Anvil in which you can take photo's.
