my name is teesha and i am in canada on visitor's visa since 1 year.My husband works in a software company ,so i am here as a dependent. this is obvious that i can not work here since i am on visitor's visa. But this one year has been so depressing for me .Not working,no social group,no family.......it has been very frustraring year for me. Now i have to spend another 6 months in Toronto and in this period of time i want to do something useful which can improve my confidence and my skills. Can you friends please help me or suggest me any volenteer work , study , job or anything which i can do in this 6 months time?

Why not find a job?

Spouses of Work Permit holders do not need HRDC approval to apply for a work permit. As long as you can find an employer who is willing to hire you, you can apply for a work permit.

Hi Teesha.
Every year there is a festival called Masala!Mehndi!Masti! held in Aug. This year it is being held end July and they are looking for volunteers to help with the show.
This show has grown by leaps and bounds and has over 100,000 visitors every year and usually brings in artists from all over the world incl. Britain.
Their Britinvasion groups have been the most popular every year.
I know of several people who have volunteered, networked and found meaningful jobs/careers to get into.
And while you're volunteering you can have fun too.Many volunteers have met and partied with Rishi Rich, Russell Peters and other artists.
Here's the lowdown> If you can't make it to the meeting on Jun 30 just call and volunteer.
