Thanks Shah for your reply.
I just wanted to make sure people coming from India wouldn't underestimate the funds they should carry to survive here until they get a job.

Congrats to you. We can share many such stories of people that were offered jobs in the manufacturing, auto sector, procurment, plastics industry, etc... There are several we have put in the 75-80K range. (even new grads out of school) though this is not the norm. It depends how your experience is and how you show it.
The industry is the same worldwide. Most people do not understand that its not just software industry, it applies to manufacturing, design, sales etc.... I agree the processes might be different but the core work is the same. Its the same engel or hitachi machines and the same parts are made eveythwere.
The problem we see is how you present it. People are not interested in knowing how you managed 100 people. You need to show value you can provide to your current employer and how you will be of value to him and MAKE THEM MONEY.
Its about how you can add value to them. If you can show that, then the sky is the limit for you not just in your first job but for the rest of your jobs.
How you present yourself and your experience is so critial, think about the machines you were familiar (brands)with the processes etc.. you will be surprised they are almost the same here.
