Is it legal to send the Canadian passport out of the country ? My daughter was born in Canada but travelled out of Canada without getting the Canadian passport , now she needs to travel back with her mother. Can I get her passport within Canada and send it over to her so that she can get back .

How did your daughter travel out of canada without a passport? Can't she travel back to canada in the same way(without passport) as she travelled out of canada?

She travelled on a travel letter from the city clerks office , but that was valid for only 90 days and has expired . Now only solution is to get a Canadian passport for her to travel back .

Any suggestions in this regard will be appreciated.

She should be able to get a travel document from the Canadian High Commission in the country where she now is.

We were in a similar situation not really related to travel but we sent our passports from canada to the US to get our permanent residency stamped.. and we recd it back safe and sound. It is perfectly legal to send the passport out of the country..just be careful when sending it..like using a reliable courier service, possibly with a tracking system and stuff. also another piece of advise would be that you could photocopy the pages of the passport and keep them with you after getting them notorized...just in case if the passport gets lost then you have this as a proof and can apply for a new one. hope this helps
