IT companies have already started hiring BSc graduates in Physics, Maths and Statistics besides MSc graduates from similar streams.
B.Sc. holders in all streams are called as Graduates in India and not Diploma holders.
Diploma holders are different people. For e.g. they are called as Diploma civil engineer's, Diploma Electrical engineers etc...
B.Sc. Holders in Maths, Stats, Physics etc... were employed in IT industry right from 1997, when the IT boom was at a peak.
I know many BE Comp. Sci. grads from reputed govt. engineering colleges unemployed from 1992 to 1997.
1998 was the peak IT boom in India. Around 1996 reputed companies like TCS started recruiting BE comp. sci from self financing colleges. In 1998 there was a boom and then even B.com holders/ B.A. (Hist.) did a 3 month course in software and were employed in USA.
