Freakoutguy, I agree. I am speaking from experience. I sponosored my mom from outside Canada. The application was processed successfully. However, I made the cardinal mistake of not being in Canada when she landed(I accompanied her). The litany of issues I went through as a result of that is not worth explaining here!
End of the day, you are right, in an ideal situation and to keep the case real 'clean', a parent should be sponsored when the sponsor is in Canada at all times. Saves a lot of headaches.
Peeli-Chhuri,
I am interested in how you managed to pull this off. I am thinking of sponsoring my parents, but there is a real possibility that I may have to leave the country to work elsewhere in the coming year and possibly return after 3-4 years (which would coincide with my parents getting the PR). I would have to dispose off my house, so wouldn't have a permanent address and obviously no job in Canada, per se.
Where you living permanently outside Canada at the time of application?Did you mention a foreign address in the application? What about proof of income? I am sorry for asking so many questions, but you are probably the first person I know who has pulled this off.
My dilemma is whether to accept a career-defining job and move abroad or stay in Canada, apply for my parents, wait until they come and then think about accepting offers abroad.
I would appreciate if you could provide a detailed account. If you do not feel comfortable posting your experience openly, maybe we could communicate off-line?
Regards,
I'll leave you a PM.
Come on guys.................need to share the details with all of us..................................its of great importance to us all.
