This is the general impression about life in western world. The qualify of life is deteriorated day by day. Things are getting expensive, no new government initiative, the facilities already there are slow becoming out of use or being taken away and so on.
As we live here we do not notice it clearly but for Chris it should be a shock to see such a vast difference.
Globalization? One day where ever you live you are going to see same quality of life. West getting worse, East getting better, we will have system equilibrium one day!

You are absolutely correct. But you are only looking at what is visible. In the developing countries with rapid globalisation the wealth is increasing but with a rapid decline in the quality of life. Secondly our value systems are 'changing' and as a conservative I feel they are changing for the worse. Overall it seems one way or the other the world is not progressing to a better place to live in.
Or is it the mid life crisis setting in!!!

I went to Mumbai ... for 3 weeks (some 2 years back). And emotions were not totally different than Chris.
Yes one thing - people were buying things like crazy. Like here we will see people in Debt and getting into Vicious Circle.
So West is getting Worst and East is catching West.

Most of the immigrants say,
"I will go back to India or after getting citizenship, or will go to USA after 3 years", Everybody wants to exploit the citizenship policy Canada has.
Is Canada a whore of everybody , but wife of nobody???
This is an interesting observation and one that is VERY common. As a young man I left city and went to another for University. Everytime I came home, I noticed it was getting worse. I immigrated to Canada and later went back for a visit, guess what? They totally ruined the place!
Education is actually a topic near and dear to me. I don't want to send this topic off into a tangent (but you know I will), but I have to educate people. Education is a process. It is not a race. In the end, my daughter and that kid in Indonesia may end up in the same university and get the same degree. Whoopdie doo dah.

Its fashionable for desis to bash the north-american educational system , yet come here to pursue their post-secondary education and relish on all the luxuries of life , which ironically are often churned out from research in the so-called \"weak\" academias of North America !
