It's been a long time... I'm sure most of you guys are more Canadian than me now! I felt very strange when I went back two weeks ago... very much like a tourist!

Wow, long time indeed!

Its funny though how your resume here says you've worked in London for Scene magazine between 1996 - 1999. And then did some sub-editing course in 2000, again in London ON.

No, that's London, England which I did by correspondence when I was at Jardine Fleming, an English bank.

I didn't have a job that I wanted to put on my resume in 1996 to 99 so it seemed better to put down the freelance journalism work I did as my main job.

Because I'm a financial editor, my resume reads better if every job reads 'editor'. I think any employer finds it unnerving if you come into an interview and you have worked in 3 or 4 professions in your last 4 jobs... best to 'spin' it to make your career seem like one long progression in one field.... a bit of 'spin', I admit, but you have to market yourself. Alas, we are all but commodities in the worldwide labor pool now.

...also quite interesting to see that someone who is 'responsible for polishing written texts' cannot spell the name of his firm (PwC) correctly on his resume.......

....and a 'Chief Financial Editor' who "maintains high quality, grammatical and coherent use of management letters and letters of advice to clients."....hmmm ;)

Of course, I presume the 'Chief Financial Editor' has nothing to do with any of the publications that PwC's office in Jakarta releases (now was that what 'Mr Cruise' referred to as 'management letters'?) :D

Look, if you want to gang up and question and attack my résumé, which was not even the topic of this post, I won't participate any more in this forum.

The topic was to examine my impressions of Canada after an absence. I'm really sorry it seemed to rub some people the wrong way.

I posted that résumé to help those desis who requested advice in knowing what a Canadian CV looked like. The original had my real name --- which is not Cruise --- and the company that I am actually working at --- which is not Pwc.

One of the moderators changed it into rtf for posting, and I made those amendments. He can attest to the fact that I made those above changes and that the original had my correct information. I did not post my CV to get a job but as a sample..... so all the information is not correct .... GET OVER IT...

If you people have become so petty as to nitpick over something like this, I think it's time for me to say 'adios'.

And crenshaw, it's résumé, not 'resume'. Resume means to begin something once again you pathetic, pedantic piece of work. Look up pedantic if you want to know what that means.

I'm out of here.
