Where? In India or Canada? And by any standards that is too cheap to get away with!!!

Secondly TK you talk of corruption in a tone that you do not like it. Yes why should you? You are straight forward person who got ticketed and is now going to pay the fine as per the law!!! Correct? No! You are going to fight the ticket and add to whatever corruption you are referring to. Typical.

Let me tell you my experience 20 years back when I was in 12th. I was caught by a cop in India for parking my scooter in a no parking area. He wanted some money but I guess I really did not know at that time what bribes are! I asked to give me a 'pavti'. Gujarati for ticket. He also took away my license. On the date written on the ticket I went to the court and found myself with 20 or so other people with all different traffic violations. The judge walked and asked everybody ' are you guilty' ? I was told by my friend to say 'YES'. everybody said 'YES'. the judge said "Rs. 2/- fine for everybody". That's it. The cops on duty were swearing. They say the trouble we take to catch a violator and bring them to the court and than all everybody gets is Rs. 2/- fine!!! That is the reason we ask for money. At least when we ask you for Rs. 50 you will think twice before violating laws.

I was driving on Highway 401 (W) in the Express Lane in August 2006. The Express Lane bifurcates into exit lanes for Highway 400 and two left lanes which continue on 401 (W). Due to only two left lanes being available to continue on the 401 (W), there is usually heavy traffic on these lanes, as drivers from the two right lines make an attempt to get on the left lanes.

I tried getting on the second lane from the left, but was unable to do so because of the heavy traffic. I had seen a police cruiser standing around 30 meters ahead on the shoulder, but was still unable to get on the lane and had to drive around 10 meters on the shoulder before I got in, which is when the officer waived me and issued a ticket for driving on the shoulder.

I think that this was an unfair ticket, as I did not deliberately drive on the shoulder but had to do so, in order to maintain a safe passing distance before I entered the lane. Also, I have a clean driving record and it would not make any sense for me to deliberately provoke the officer into giving me a ticket when I was aware of his presence, unless I had no alternative.

I had been taking this route for three months, and always got in before the right lane turned into the shoulder, except this one day.

Anyhow, I contacted Toronto Traffic Tickets to take over my case and paid them $300. My case has come up for hearing in June 2007. I am not required to turn up in court, as the agency would represent me over there. If the agency, makes a deal with the cop (as has been alleged) and he doesnt turn up, the case is dismissed. If the cop does show up, the agency will try to see that I do not get any demerit points and only pay the fine of $105.

Lets see what happens ;)

CD's,
You know that i got a speeding ticket in Dec-06 and had retained a top traffic ticket specialist to fight the ticket.
Yesterday, I recd. a notice from the court convicting me of the crime & Directing me to pay a fine of $140 befrore MAr. 17 th. Failing which they can send my name to a collection agency, and a letter from the MTO (Transport) saying that i have been given 3 demerit points for the speeding conviction.
I called my Traffic specialist and asked her how come i got the Conviction notice without a trial date. She has told me to come to the office specifically so that they can send me to fix an appeal with the comissionare (donot know what this means).
Can any CD explain what happened? Was i fooled? Can i get back my money/ throw the ticket out.
I Paid nearly 1/2 a grand for this. While taking the money from me, they were so sweet and told me that all dealings can be done by fax. They sent me a form to withdraw my money from my Credit Card by fax and promptly withdrew the money the very next day and when the conviction appeared, they want all dealing to be done in their office and want me to come in person. They also want me to go and file an appeal (in person) with the comissionare.

Something seems wrong, probably they forgot to file your papers initially.

When I went to court, an old man had come. His hired agent never appeared. Old man said he was told by agent that he does not need to be present but he came just out of curiosity.

Hello Cd's
With respect to my situation, I visted the Traffic ticket specialists. They printed me an Affidavit stating that i got the conviction without a court date. I got this signed by a notary to whom they sent me ($10 charge) and told me that they will file this in the court and call me if any further developments arise.

Cd's,
This is another update on my speeding ticket.
On Thursday, I was called by my traffick ticket specialist and asked to pay the fine. They told me to pay the fine ASAP or otherwise that my license would be suspended. They told me to come to their office for filing another affidavit after paying the fine.
When i went home , I found a letter from a provincial fine collecting agency, telling me to pay my fine ($135+ $20 legal charge + $10 interest=$160) within 5 days or that my fine would be sent to the credit beaureau.
I guess I was totally fooled by the traffic ticket specialist. I paid $600 + GST to throw out the ticket.
I require some advice as to what to ask the traffic ticket specialist when i meet them next week.
Luckily, I have my next year insurance renewal already sent to me by TD bank which guarentees my insurance rate till 07/2008.
Their website says full refund if the ticket is not thrown out though they have not given that to me in writing.
My fault was that I was so confident that they would throw away my ticket that i did not talk with them regarding what would happen if they were not able to throw the ticket out.
Thanks in advance for all your kind replies.
