That's good news. Now I can talk longer and still pay the same amount.

Their rates to US are also reasonable - 2.9c / minute + tax

Yes they do have lowered the rates. However the 8.9c rate is for calls made to Reliance network. Rates for other networks are 9.9c..which is still lower.

G3 is also lower with 8.9c (with auto debits) for any network connections.

Hi CD members

We had been using reliance india call for more than a year.

For the last two months we are using long distance service through sears connect where we get 800 minutes per month for approx $ 24, works out to 3 cents per minute to landlines in India.

Kindly let us know what product is that. I looked up on sears connect website and all i am getting is .21 cent for India land line

With $1.95 monthly fee, STARTEC charges $0.079 per minute without the hassle of dialing access number. And you can now add your mobile to it as well. The rate is to make calls to land/mobile numbers to anywhere in India.
