Just thought of sharing our experience about these guys. Summary is if you can avoid please do so. Why,
1. They won't tell you that steam cleaning is separate but when you get the invoice you will have 300+ $ on top of their regular cleaning hours.
2. Person who came for our house cleaning came with a girl who doesn't know a thing about cleaning and who looked totally underage ( even asked if she is legal ?? )
3. No need to say that the girl who did not speak or understand English was absolute crap. Had to intervene every now and then ...
4. steam cleaning was again of no effect all stains, dirt etc was still visible.
So I guess my recommendation is just do your own cleaning instead of spending 500 $ on a crappy service...

I actually mean it to be a site of positive recommendations that people can depend upon but you can place your experience there so that customers are not taken for a ride.
Only make sure that you frame the feedback as a strictly personal one. e.g: I was charged separately for steam cleaning without being preinformed, the assistant sent to my place neeeded constant supervision. The stains remain on *my* carpet etc.

Not sure what you mean by "no way to verify"... People post +ve experiences and recommendation which are carried in the blog and there is no way of verifying them ... All discussion group carry that risk and they do not demand verification for each and everything that is posted ...
If somebody gets duped by a service recommended by a member in this group ( though recommendation was carried by the site without verification ) not sure how that would be communicated so that others are not taken for a ride

All discussion groups do run a risk but each discussion group make an individual decision on how much risk they want to take on. Based on past experiences, we have decided to go this route.
Anyone who is going to recruit for these services and reads your post can email/PM you to get the name so as not to get duped themselves. The compromise is that its not a broadcast.

This can happen in two ways
1) Someone else really did experience great service and somehow in your case, that didn't happen.
Not much CD can do about this. Not anything rather, when you decide to employ a service based on a positive recommendation posted on this site by another member, you do it at your own risk.
2) Someone put up a recommendation for their own services.
There is no easy way to verify this as well.
We are pretty vigilant about keeping an eye out for ads disguised as recommendations, but it is not possible to catch this every time.
If however you feel duped by a recommendation that was clearly misleading, please email or PM myself or Garvo Gujarati. We will follow-up on a case by case basis and remove the recommendation if need be.

As you say, all discussion groups carry the risk. Cdn desi may have chosen not to accept that risk because they are the ones liable for libel/slander EVEN when your side of the story is 100% true. Positive experiences do not get sued, but negative comments may.
Also, you have been given the choice to communicate your concern about this cleaner to others through private email.
Anyway, cleaners are bunch of jokers. The only sign of "cleanliness" in my experience has been the damp carpet for couple of days....

Well!! I did get the reference of this particular service from a fellow member ( who I do not believe used it personally but just posted this cleaners name, along with one more cleaners name, out of good faith. BTW this would constitute the third way ).
Anyways I do understand the risk and policy so drafted as a consequence by CD. In light of that I would say that my personal experience has not been good using one of the cleaners in GTA ( not talking about molly maid which was the other recommendation by my desi friend). If people need more info please PM me.
