Thank you. Really appreciate it.
1. How about J2 visa my wife is not a Canadian citizen but she's permanent resident.
2. Also, do you know whether 2yr residency rule applied to canadian citizens holding J1 visa?
3. Is it possible to convert J1 status to TN visa?
Thank you again
kiki
1.) Go to US embassy/consulate with your wife and get some documents for yourself there. This way she does not have to apply for an appointment. This facility is only for Canadian citizens. I didnt know about this. J2 visa is given easily. My wife is an Indian citizen and not a PR of Canada.
2.) No Thats the good part of J1 visa.. You can stay on in J1 for 5 years, convert to TN for 2 more years and then reapply as J1 again
3.) Yes it is possible...easiest way would be to cross the border again.. You cannot do it while staying in the USA
Another point... J2 along with L2 is the only visa on which a person can work in the USA... no other visa allows a dependent to work.

Much appreciated.

Sorry Ottawa nerd. One more quick question.
Do you suggest me to go to US consulate directly (without any appointment) for my J1 visa along with my wife for her J2 visa?
or
should I get my J1 visa at the port of entry and then go to US consulate directly for my wife's J2 visa ((without any appointment)?
Little confused.
Sorry for bothering you with my questions.
Thank you
kiki
