All these checks are fine but doesn't take any effect when a mental patient can still go into a store to buy a gun. Apparently this guy did not have a criminal record, hence the gun was sold to him....did anybody bother to check his sanity??? I understand that health records are a matter of patient confidentiality but COME ON!!!! You SHOULD be able to check someones mental health BEFORE you sell them a gun...isn't that just common sense???

Privacy laws prevent gun sellers from examining background checks. In Virginia, all u need is 3 forms of ID to buy a gun. Mind u, Virginia is a southern state where gun control is a taboo. Forget checking sanity, if I am right, they dont even check the criminal records. U got 3 forms of ID, u got the gun.
