Hi,
Has any body used this service http://www.localphone.com/ for making LD calls to Indai. Apparantly they charge only 2.9 cents (US) for phone to phone calls to India.
Any comments from any user?
I've been using localphone for last 2-3 weeks and I would say the call quality is good and so is the price. So far the billing is good to and not like 'betamax'. The only drag of LP is that one needs a free local phone, because they will give local phone number- like if you are in Toronto they will give for at least 10 phone numbers of india a local 416-...-.... number which you dial and it will ring the desired number. I guess beyond 10 numbers you will need to dial their 'connection number (like 416-...-....) then dial code then they assign numbers like 11,12 etc. So one is not free to just pick-up and dial only India number etc. But another benefit is one can change/ add more than one number say one saved 416-222-5555 and then you are in Ottawa or other part of Toronto you can change your number for that matter even in another country.
Their billing system looks good coz' when I was first registering by mistake i put one too many digit in my postal code (it should've detected while registering) so when I tried paying by credit card it took time to process(usually first time it takes some time) and eventually they did not process as they were doubtful(a good sign). Then I bought it with Paypal(with paypal minimum you can buy is $10 but otherwise one can buy with credit card $5 or more).
Hope it helps let me knw if you've any questions.
Happy calling!
