Hi Venkatesh,
Here is a little bit of help.
Regina Map : Go to the map and use it. http://www.cityregina.com/content/welcome/city_map/index.shtml
This provides you with a little bit of geography too:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regina,_Saskatchewan
In case you use it:
Transit : http://www.foundlocally.com/Regina/Trans/Trans-Transit.htm
Most of the rentals are a little bit low and off the local areas. Thje high rises are as expensive as anywhere.
Rentals: http://regina.kijiji.ca/?cat=37&dest=www&kwd=saskatchewan%20rental
This list truncated in the rentals section when I accessed.

http://www.apartmentcorner.com/search/apartments/ca/Saskatchewan/Regina/Regina-apartments.asp
Another site: http://www.hoobly.com/11149/23/0/
This will be your best bet for any information you are seeking. Do drop in there and contact the trustees and operators. There a dozen or so who will help you.

In case you get home sick.
India House : A good place to eat: http://www.uregina.ca/isso/Resturants.pdf
There were two others that I knew and looks like that they were closed. The Taj and LeCurry all were around Broadway.
Indian Grocer:
Indian Food Center
1213 ,15th Ave,
Regina Saskatchewan
Phone:(306)757-9940

There are few from SK on this board. I do not know anyone from Regina. You can keep the query running and some will ultimately provide you with a reference.

Good Luck in the new location. Do drop us a note and tell us how good the place is.

Freddie.

Thanks a lot Freddie. I have heard that Regina is coming up in IT and since its association with US-business and proximity to the US, it would be a next IT destination is what is been depicted as..

Hi cdn_dude,

I was interested in knowing about Regina as a city, cost of living, oppurtunites available(offcourse apart from IT), Indian Communities presence, availability of indian commodities and stuff.

Most important thing is to get some help on arrival in Regina, like temporary accomodation like we have here in toronto. Any thing which I need to be aware before getting in..

Regards
Venky

The city is very small as compared to Toronto and the cost of living is very reasonable. The cost of living in Saskatchewan is rising, but Regina is less expensive than Saskatoon. There is a considerable number of Indians living there, including the students (since the Univ of Regina is there). As far I know, the no. of job opportunities are limited. You will not get a wide range of Indian goods like you get in Ontario. But you get basic Indian grocery in Superstore (the large supermarket in western Canada).

There are no healthcare premims to pay!! I will inquire about the accomodation stuff and post it here if I am able to find any useful info.
