I am an international student in george brown college. My course will be finishing on 17th december 2010. I Have multiple entry student visa and study permit which is valid till 15th march 2010. Well i have to go to india on 15th january for some urgent purpose and will be returning back on 25th january 2010.
My question is as i am entitled to apply for one year open work permit. will there be any problem in re entering canada again?
should i go india after applying work permit or should i come here and then apply it.
if i apply before leaving india , i will be having receipt as a proof that i have applied work permit , as i will be receiving hard copy of work permit later on.

please help me what should i do, should i go india or not?

Guess you have VISA till March 15, 2011 .... and not 2010. If so there is no problem for your return to Canada on Jan 25, 2011. You can apply for your graduate work permit and go to India. Make sure you give right mailing address so that you won't loos it by the time you are back.

But i have heard that if you apply for open work permit , you have to stay in a country from where you have applied, if you leave that country for a short period the work permit will be barred and no longer be valid . is that true?
