What is the opinion about telecom operators like Jazzytel and Eztel who are offering as low as 19.9 cents to India.

Hi
I have been using 20/20 card to call India and it really works well, if you are making the call just once or twice, it is also clear and audible-try that and let me know, i have tried using teckno too-

What about reporting the fake phone cards to consumer reporting authorities. Is there anything like that in Canada?

Not all Telephone cards are good and similarly not all are bad. Though, I personally do not use Calling Cards but I know people face a lots of problem with these cards, specially over a period of time. Every week there is a new card in the market, which would work fine for some time and as more & more people would start using it, the service quality would go down and the card would not give you the time promised.

First of all, the calling cards are generally ok if these are to be used in one go, which means you have to talk for more than half an hour or more continuously which I feel not possible every time. The cards generally advertize 'no connection fee' in bold letters, but if you see the fine print on their charts, you will see that these cards are subject to some type of 'maintenance fee' which you only come to know if you call them and specifically ask. This is generally $1 or $2 every week, starting from the first usage of the card. Hence, if you do not use the card fully in one go, and keep it for another time, they will automatically deduct the maintenance fee and your next call would not give you the amount of time remaining in the card, and if it is not used for a month or so, all the money remainging may go in 'maintenance fee' and the card would not work.

I feel other services which provide low rates without any monthly fee are a better option and you do not have to 'unnecessary' talk for a long time in order to make a good use like as in the case of a calling card. I personally use G3 Telecom and is quite satisfied with the service and the rates for calling to India and for calling in Ontario, I use a pre-paid service which gives us 200 calls per month (each call for a maximum 30 minutes duration) for a flat rate of $20 per year ( yes $20 per year and not per month).

Friends,

I' ve ben using Comwave for the last 6 months now. Nothing is comparable to this. Throughout India they charge 19 Cents/minute, 2.9 Cents in Canada and 3.9 cents to States.

They do charge 99 cents monthly administration fees which does not hurt. They provide detail billing and charge you end of the month.

My honest opinion--GO FOR THIS

I have used G3 and overall it is ok. I never faced problems with it except last weekend.

Last weekend, I faced problems connecting to Chennai and the person at help desk said nothing can be done as this is weekend and the technician is not available on weekends.

Once the call was not connected and I was charged. I got back the amount that I was charged after I spoke to G3 help desk.

Calling cards are unreliable!
