Parents coming to USA

Hi all,
My parents will be coming to USA. Can they bring their prescription medicines (blood pressure, joint pain tablets for my dad etc.) in the handbag/purse?

They have prescription for those medicines.

Also my dad eats tobacco. Can he bring small amount in the handbag for travelling consumption?

Please suggest
