Dude,
Are you sure? Do you have real time experience like this?
My experience was that the Gync. WOULD NOT see you unless you have a standard paper from a family doctor or a walk-in doctor to recommend you.
You just have to go to a Walk in to get this recommendation paper and then you can call the Gync's willing to accept you and then hand them the paper and then join the Gync.
Some walk-in's (esp. one in Mississauga) would call on your behalf to join you to a Gynacologist.
ALso note that inthe GTA, the only Gync's willing to accept you at such a late stage of delivery would be the really bad ones. There are some Gync's where you have such a long waiting list (3-9 months) that people register before hand when they plan to get pregnant.
There have been cases where the Gync. postponsed his / her vacation in order to deliver their client's baby.
In some hospitals like St. Joseph's of Toronto, it really does not matter who yur Gync. is. Your baby will be delivered by the Gync. who is on duty on that day.
Crazy helathcare system in Canada.
On as side note , I wonder how the Doctors are not going on strike to demand better wages/ fees from the Govt..
Peace out

Yes, I do have a real time experience - but in Alberta - may be in Ontario, you have to see a walk-in clinic dr. or your regular dr. for the referral.
