hi,
i am a medical doctor pakistan practising in my private clinic since last 13 years now i have heard that medical doctor are also included in NOC OF CANADA.
i want to know ur comments about the immigration and most of all the getting job prospects in canada for me as i have gone through various posts in CD and i came to know about gloomy aspect of job even if u got immigration.ur expert advice is welcome
Job should not be a problem for a doctor who probably is driving his car to his clinic as there are plenty of oppurtunities in canada ; in fact canada is a land of opurtunity only one needs to have a positive attitute and need to grab it going by my experience of canada you will get a job.
I am sure you wanted to listen to all this but the truth is yes u will get a job but driving a Taxi and not as a doctor.soon i feel they will have a Ontario Doctor-Taxi drivers association and Ontario Engineer-Taxi Drivers Association .

Nice one nish.. Canada immigration is a big humbug. I know an MD dentist here who has been sitting at home for the past 3 years. And now she is going for a medical assistant course. Pathetic! I read the asian post paper last week that talked about this chinese immigrant, a doctor, who has waited 10 years to practice here with no luck. She's thinking of going back. So, these are your warning signs. Try the gulf region also. Do your homework THOROUGHLY before coming here. You have a lot to lose since you have an established clinic already. Good luck.
Here's the link on the chinese immigrant:

nishitno1's post is 100 % accurate. I used to know a doctor working as security guard here in toronto. Please do your homework thoroughly before you spend any money on immigration.
As if that was not enough, I have a friend who is a doctor with about 15 years experience in India and the Gulf - she couldn't practise as a doctor here so finally she decided to change her career.
Went to York University and did her MBA for two years, forgetting the family and all wordly things at this age.
And now - been a year since she passed out but haven't got a single job even as an MBA (from one of the best local universities!!!) since employers are not ready to take an MBA who was a doctor. So with 25k and 2 years wasted, she has made up her mind to go over back to medicine and do it all over again!
Do you have that determination???

Things have changed considerabely by 2004 and in coming years more changes are bound to take place.I would only suggest that one should refer to website of canadavisa.com and workfutures bc to get more information on the above topic.Due to growing 'saturation' in this field medical granduates are turning to allied medical subjects like pharmacy, podiatry, chiropractice, microbiology, medical journalism, etc.
In fact what is the harm if one decides to change one's life track if one is stuck in!Plus he is not doing this own his own,he has decided not to practise medicine and also has requisite qualifications recognised by international standards,so what is the problem?
In Mumbai there are so many medical graduates who have done TOEFL,GRE and get admissions in US/Canada for MS/MSC or PHD courses.
Ofcourse afte that most of them get absorbed in as per their new qualifications and experience and not as MBBS DOCTORS!
