I have a Toshiba satellite laptop with AMD processor running Windows Vista. It has become very slow, becomes very hot while running and is noisy, and I want to format it.
- Once I format the laptop, can I use the recovery discs to reinstall Vista?
- Is it possible to make it dual bootable by installing Ubuntu Linux?

Thanks for the tip.
I installed 8.x version of Ubuntu from a CD and then it automatically updated to version 10.x. I was thinking of updating it to 11.04, but now I won't do it.

Hi Meghal,
On a side note, If you are not already using a laptop cooling pad http://canadacomputers.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=laptop+cooling+pad&sid=f6ouv90elt6m0k65ha7ko0dth5&x=0&y=0 then you should start using one. The AMD processor really becomes very hot and this cooling pad would help you keeping the laptop cool and save you from future problems like blue screen or hard disc failure etc.

What is the issue with 11.04. I recently install it along with my vista in my laptop. The 11.04 version seems okay to me. Earlier i used to have mythbunto based on ubunto 9.04
