Hi
My parent’s application for visit visa has been rejected on grounds of insufficient funds. They had shown enough bank balance, property papers, including documents related to the consultancy business that they have in India. In addition to that, from our end, we had shown steady employment/income to support them for more than 6 months. The CHC just took a day to take the decision, which obviously was not based on facts and figures that were presented to them.
My questions are:
¨ Should I ask the local MP/MPP for a letter from their office?
¨ Who should I ask: the local MPP or the local MP?
¨ How do I approach them, and how do I present the case?
¨ What are the chances of the application being approved if a MP/MPP’s letter accompanies the application?
Feedback from anyone in this forum who has approached such a person and how to go about it would be very helpful.
Thanx

Sumjo,
Sorry to hear about the rejection.
Though, I personally have not done it, a letter from the MP, MPP carries on much weight. It would be in the best interests to get one. Also try to notorise your invitation letter which carries more weight.
The experiences of an MP/ MPP varies in nature depending on the locality you live in. I have heard cases of MP/MPP's calling up the counsulate in India to guarentee that their contituents family from India would return back at the end of their stay and to instruct them that they should be given the visa. At the least, you will be given a standard letter from the MP/MPP with his signature which would call upon the counsulate to give the parents / family members of the constituents to be given the visa.
As you might know, the issuance of the Visa is like a lottery and depends on time, luck and the officer seeing it.
I have seen people reapply with almost the same information and getting it. Some VFS donot not accept clients applying again with the same information before 6 months.
Hope this helps
Peace

I am a Gents and not a Ladies.
Visitor Visas fall under federal government - contact your MP.
They clearly state in your application / request for a letter that their letter is just a letter of support, not a guarantee.

Sumjo---sorry to hear abt that
I agree with TK that it is a lottery. My uncle applied on the basis of a simple invitation letter from me last week.He got it. I did not notarise anything. plse send me your phone number. I will call u and let u know in detail about the case of my parents and uncle.
Visitor Visa is indeed a Lottery.
Application of my Parents were rejected. While it was accepted for In-Laws. Last year, My Sister's application was rejected.
All these time, supporting documents were same.
But only if I know their Psych ...
Letter from MP helps, but does not guarantee. They can't force.

Mumbai Maazi Ladki ...
To continue with the sumjo parents case, even my parents visitors visa (multiple entry) is rejected on same grounds, inspite of having all the documents. What my parents did, came to USA , approached Detroit border office applied for single entry visa and got it with out much of fuss.
Probably when applying from India always apply for single entry visa.
I suspect its some sort of discrimination .... a bit discreet but nevertheless its their.
Why don't they publish some sort of criteria against which the visitor's visa applicant is measured?
Or they could request a bond which will be returned back to the applicant in questionable cases.
Say for example

this issue needs to be debated.
