I agree. Its a kind of discrimination. Along with that, its a easy way of making money from the 3rd world countries, just like the immigration scam.
They think that everyone who comes here from the 3rd world Asian countries, will stay back, what they dont understand is that not everyone likes to live in a freezer, and there's life outside of Canada also.
My parents dont have any intention of staying back here, since they have everything going for them in India........big house, friend circle, business, known enviornment, etc. The only reason that they want to visit is to be with us for sometime, since I am the only son.
If the CHC is so scared of people not exiting Canada after expiry of the visit visa, why dont they start something like the bond system, as mentioned by GreatGuy?
Really ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I suspect its some sort of discrimination .... a bit discreet but nevertheless its their.
Why don't they publish some sort of criteria against which the visitor's visa applicant is measured?
Or they could request a bond which will be returned back to the applicant in questionable cases.
Say for example
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2007/dec/18/politics.immigration
this issue needs to be debated.

Mumbai Maazi Ladki ...
I fully agree with you that there are overheads that they have to take care of, but the word "discrimination" & "money making" creeps into the picture when inspite of showing more than enough funds, the application is rejected due to "insufficient funds" within a day. They could have asked for more clarification regarding the source of funds, etc. but they didnt bother.........
<<<I am not too sure about this sentiments. We should not use Discrimination loosely. What kind Discrimination are you talking about?
They must be making some money out of application fees but than its a system which needs money, it can't run on its own. There are overheads.
I think, its all number game. They may have a number which they can;t exceed. There are so many applicants.>>>

Discrimination it surely is .. of a different kind.
I have come across cases where the same parent whose visit for Canada was rejected in India , got approval from Canadian consulate in the US , one month later . How come the same person's circumstances change when applying from the US ?

Fido.
My take on this is as follows:
Imagine relatives of Irish, British, French or other European countries been denied of visitor’s visa.
Wouldn’t there is an outcry?
For those countries you don’t even need a visa to visit Canada.
Sure, some people from poor countries overstay.
Why don’t they establish a proper established verifiable (from both sides) and publicly available criteria.
For example,
Rule 1 – you need x amount of dollars
Rule 2 – something else
Rule 3 – no criminal record
Also a bondable scheme would be a good idea.
All we are asking is a fair and transparent system … for all citizens. Is that too much to ask?

Hello,
I'm on a work permit and have been in Canada for over a year. I had applied dependent visa for my wife and she joined me here last March. I tried applying visitor visa for my parents (multiple entry) but the Canadian high commission has rejected the application citing insufficient funds. We had applied through an agent and he is not sure if the insufficient fund pertained to the bank statement submitted by my father or the one submitted by me. I had submitted close to $5000 in my bank statement. Please advice if any of you have had this scenario. I saw some of the posts here but they all pertain to cases where the sponsor is a PR or a citizen. Has anyone in work permit had this issue before. Also advice on the next steps to be taken.
Hi all,
Well, they got their visa this time. This was the 2nd try in five years. Recvd the visas yesterday, that too without any medical checkups.

Hi
My parent’s application for visit visa has been rejected on grounds of insufficient funds. They had shown enough bank balance, property papers, including documents related to the consultancy business that they have in India. In addition to that, from our end, we had shown steady employment/income to support them for more than 6 months. The CHC just took a day to take the decision, which obviously was not based on facts and figures that were presented to them.
My questions are:
¨ Should I ask the local MP/MPP for a letter from their office?
¨ Who should I ask: the local MPP or the local MP?
¨ How do I approach them, and how do I present the case?
¨ What are the chances of the application being approved if a MP/MPP’s letter accompanies the application?
Feedback from anyone in this forum who has approached such a person and how to go about it would be very helpful.
Thanx
