Sorry, the "sky is falling" thingie does not work for me.
Like I've said numerous times, the members make CD and without their contribution, a forum like this is not possible. A mod's role is simply to facilitate and take care of the platform, which is what I try to do and the idea is never to scare/shoo anyone off, that runs contrary to the purpose of maintaining the forum.
At the same time, if a member feels that the way CD is run isn't to their liking and they need to find another site to contribute, that's perfectly fine as well, It their prerogative and I will not stop them.
And likewise, we dont' force registered members to contribute on chracha. There are some who've used charcha extensively to their benefit but never contributed back, there are those who've never used charcha to their benefit but continue to help others and there are those who've used it both ways. We obviously prefer the two latter categories, but everyone's welcome regardless.
The way I look at it, the flux in member engagement over a period of time is inevitable given the organic evolution of charcha.
I'm open to ideas though and one thing that this thread does spawn is the need for an open discussion on charcha moderation and receiving member feedback, I'd say something like that is overdue from my side. The last thing I want members to feel is that their contribution is not being appreciated, that's completely counter-productive to what this forum stands for. I'll start a thread on this with some structure in the next couple of days, leave it open for about a month or so and then summarize the feedback and any resulting action items.
