I just meant to say that Desis like to shop in crowded and noisy places. Try to imagine a huge Loblaws-style Indian grocery store with elevator music and all the works, where Desis are quietly doing their shopping using neat shopping carts. Can you? To me, it just don't fit!![]()

actually a friend of mine is trying to do just this in Montreal and Toronto. However, with the higher overheads I'm not sure you can keep the 3 pirated movies in a 5$ dvd crowd happy. We are quite the bargain hunters you know?

Are you there?
Don't think it as a burden... make it a family fun event...You can have a good family time together by going for grocery shopping.
This sort of thing happens in the usa too. most of the stores are cramped and people behave as if they are standing in a ration que. when they come to the store they leave th curtacy behind and come.
they cut lines and stand and when people tell them that the que is behind they make a face and behave as if they did not hear. Some times i see them fighting over okra/bhindi as if one will take all leaving nothing for others.
i have faced the same thing in Air India, people rushing for the connecting flight when they hear the announcement as if the flight will take off without them.
i believe it is part of indian culture and it is up to us to keep things neat. if they want the stores to be clean then we should not make it messy. everything starts with us.
It's obvious none of you has visited "No Frills" and/or "Food Basics" OR ...have you?
Max of two days.
One big wave on saturday or Sunday during which I visit local + Indian grocery store and horad up for a week. If things like bread, fruit milk fall short I take one more short trip.

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.
