Fit is a subcompact and gets great mileage however its not as refined as either the civic or the corolla and a smmall engine means it will be work on highway ramps or whenever u need quick acceleration
Consider it if u want manual the auto will be frustrating
Test drive all 3 and feel the difference

Live and Let Live
Have you considered picking up a car from the States? Look at the thread in the Automotive section on RFD that details how to import a car - it's not that complex. The savings are well worth it.
If you buy a good second hand (and let someone else take the depreciation hit), the savings become even bigger.
If you save money upfront on the Mazda, you could put that in towards repair costs IF such repairs do occur - otherwise it's money saved. Same goes for gas mileage.
IMO, most cars today are reliable enough to go 5 years without major repairs.
From a personal perspective - Corollas are dead boring (emphasis on dead)!
If you decided to buy any Toyota , First shop around and find out what every method you want like cash,Lease, Finance etc rates.

I am just a customer, not any relative or sales person.
AWD is great for Canadian conditions. I own two and like them. Legacy wagons also can haul a lot of stuff in the back.
