I am thinking on an offer from IL and wondering what would be the biweekly pay on two slabs. 70 K & 85 k in Ilinois. The company is located in a small town.I need to determine how much taxes I can get back from the US government.

Do I need to pay CDN govt in taxes if my wife and children stay in Toronto?

Is it better to earn 65 K with two kids here in Toronto,Ontario (and pay $400 property tax here) or live in IL (by selling the home here). The home rent for a two bedroom appartment is between $450 - $600.I am trying to get a break down figure.

My plan is to do two stints of 3 year Tn visas hopefully.

http://www.paycheckcity.com/netpaycalc/netpayCalcResult.asp

Your Pay Check Results for 70K
Bi-weekly Gross Pay $2,692.31
Federal Withholding $327.79
Social Security $166.92
Medicare $39.04
Illinois $80.77

Net Pay $2,077.79

Your Pay Check Results for 85 k
Bi-weekly Gross Pay $3,269.23
Federal Withholding $463.75
Social Security $202.69
Medicare $47.40
Illinois $98.08

Net Pay $2,457.31

Will post more info if needed.

Thanks

Jack,
Salary wise / Saving wise and deal wise USA will be far better.
on a 76K pay in Canada (GTA) one's pay cheque is around $1685 (Vs. USA $2077).
Ontario is in recession and software jobs are prone to job loss in Canada rather than in USA (with the exception of Finance IT). Housing prices are expected to come down in Ontario / USa and hence renting in the short term is better. Even in USA you can buy a house which is cheaper than the same size in a rural town of Ontario.

Compare with these factors :
1. Living in a small town devoid of Desi's / entertainment Vs. Big town facilities and Lots of Desi's , restaurants etc...
2. Crime
3. Cheaper goods and Less tax for everything.
4. Good deals (in all aspects + high quality customer service)
5. Cheap rent
6. Your professional growth
7. Health care. Your deductable + how you are planning to exploit the healthcare / dental system.
8. Universal cheque of $100 a person (kid) in Canada
9. 5% commission that will go when you sell the house.

So decision is yours.
If you are solely after money / monetary savings USA deal is the best one.

Hope this helps

Peace by TK
