Hi there,
When you say Bell and Telus will also shift to HSPA (kind of GSM), in that case does one need to buy new phone again to have HSPA/GSM connectivity?
I feel GSM phones can be used anywhere in world by unlocking and buying local SIM when travellin.
Would you not recommend that one should prefer GSM service provider?
Thanks

Virgin is sort of a franchisee where it is branded and sold as virgin, entire network, services, systems are same as Bell. Also all are CDMA.

Many people say that the main problem with CDMA phone is that they do not work in basement, elevator and some building while GSM phones work everywhere.
Can someone reconfirm?
Thanks

Sir,
Generally research has shown that people upgrade their hardware ( Phone ) every 2 years.
Desi # 1,
With due respect, technically what i said was the following which you rephrased.
1. It depends which ever provider has towers in place, his service would be better, hence CDMA or GSM does not make a difference. You can get dropped calls on both.
2. Wording of virgin as a franchise in this case was to to convey that it uses a bell network and provides the same service, cost structure is different- branding is different.
3. Option of 24 months and changes actual in 34 months depends on which report you are looking at for hardware upgrade. Companies provide option of 24 months because they think this is reasonable based on the hardware being used as well as new innovations being provided that the customer would choose to upgrade and this cost is considered within the monthly outgo we pay on a plan i.e under contract.
Trust this clarifies.
Regards,
Rajiv
