I don't think that Canada's education is better than education in India ... because once in my high school someone was talking a lot in maths class so my maths teacher asked him what 4x8 is, and he had to do it on his calculator ....

Ouch... must be too much influence of Avril Lavigne..instead of Priety Zinta (back home) .. explains it all ,
but generalizations aside, I have found here that kids born here (most often) are weak in theoretical stuff.. E.g Math..
Heck we were not supposed to use a calculator till we entered College !
Here, without a calculator you cannot do anything.
In India, being an engineer or doctor is considered a matter of prestige. At least thats not the case here. Ppl readily join other fields of studies. In addition, Civil engg is considered a "low-rank" subject for higher studies back home. Here ppl at least enter it with an unbiased attitude. Its another story that there are hardly any jobs in Civil engg. !

VijuLibra you must be India.. thats why you have that notion. I also had that notion when I came here in 1998. Believe me it will all change. There is no donation here, but what you have is an "invisible" glass ceiling that restricts ur ability to move up the social ladder. Exceptions are there though.
Better medical facilities are there no doubt !, but again there is a huge backlog vis-a-vis doctors/patients. I wish you had access to CBC newsworld, you will understand what I am talking about !
As for political clout, it exists and it surely does exist. Ony it is not visible !
Infrastructure may be better here. but the question arises as to what you would do here once you come here ? Are u coming here with arranged employment ? If not then please browse through this forum for real sob-stories, as to how ppl have to struggle here to find a job !
