Sanjeev,
Thanks for stepping in to prevent the inevitable running around in circles.
I was hoping that only prospective/new immigrants give their reasons for migrating. That too ONLY their reasons and not what they assume are the reasons of the others. Like you mentioned vijulibra, isomet(for the most part),heston, MI and mazdoor(albeit in his last sentence) have provided the answer to the original question. Not that I think the opinions of the others who have posted do not matter, but we have already gone into the medical/education system debate before. Ofcourse, this is an online forum and its not a crime that threads go off the main topic either.
Anyway,
Again for the prospective/new immigrants
Why do YOU want to migrate? is the question .

I did not want to enter into this discussion because as Jake had rightly put it - we old timer have discussed this n number of times.
However, just like Jake, I would like to know the reasons of people wanting to immigrate/just immigrated and help them in their endeavours in a positive manner.
However, I find that writing an answer in phrases is not enough - it does not explain fully what you might mean by 'better life' -for one, it could just be a good house than a small apartment in Mumbai, while for other it might be getting away from the riches of the family into a world of his own where he gets a chance to explore and prove himself.
Similarly when you write better/more opportunities - what exactly do you mean by it - please elaborate? This could mean better research/ advancement facilities in your own professional field (like for Jake) or it could simply mean getting away to change your profession (like for me!) which is not easy in Asia.
So guys - please elaborate - that will help both you and us in helping you better!

Advice is free – lessons I charge for!!
I have not yet applied for immigration but am seriously considering it.
My reasons for going;
Better quality of life, this would include all the conveniences which are difficult / expensive in India, better infrastructure which allows one to concentrate on what one wants to do...
Money is a reason, though I think I can make enuf in India also with my qualification, but that wud be enuf for India only.
Whenever u travel anyplace in India, u see a whole lots of Firangs. And it's not that they are rich ppl travelling around.
For an Indian to travel around in India itself wud require a reasonable amount of money. And one can't think of going to say canada for vacations.
So a strong currency does make a difference.
I want some change. I know this is a hopelessly short term reason but a reason nevertheless
Belief that I can do better in Canada/ US then in India.
are these enuf ............ thinking thinking.........
