Work permit holder, do I need to go out of Canada for getting PR

Hi,
My name is Arvinder, I am here in Canada on work permit since Nov-07 and is valid for two years.
However I have already applied for Immigration Dec-03, last Nov they asked for landing fees which I paid.
Now my question is do I need to go to India for re-enter once I get the Immigration and can I send my passport to them for stamping from Canada it self.

passports can be sent through mail only between canada/usa, hence you cannot send it to India, unless you take it personally

I can only give you a short account of what the process is. The files are brought back into Mississauga (or to a location close to you?) Then they ask you to visit them and get the Passport stamped as if it is from with in Canada Processing. You may not even have to cross the border to get stamping. Just Go In and Go Out. Call CIC or send an e-mail to them and get a proper response. Please tell them that you are here in Canada, Give them the current address too.

as per my understanding, yes do have to cross the border for pr stamping but instead of going all the way to India(unless you want to & as such meet the family as well)...you can just go to US
