Parents sponsorship with EI benefits

Hello,

I am a PR. I have applied for my parents sponsorship (India) from Canada a year ago when I was working.Recently I was laid off.

If I apply for Employment Insurance benefits , does it effect my parents sponsorship application that is in progress?

Please advice?

"Laid Off" is a very broad term. Will your Employer be recalling you if things improve? If so there is still some form of continuity and it might weigh in your favour.

Do not worry about the sponsorship. Go ahead and collect the EI, it is your right to collect. Do not loose the opportunity to stay on it for the longest ever.

For the near future things look very bleak. AND there are better days ahead.
