Hi Friends,
I have completed 2.5 years [as landed immigrant] in Canada.
As far my knowledge goes, I can apply for Passport after 3 years. But I was told it take roughly 1 year or more
Question :- Can I apply for Canadian passport right now, so that by the time my turn comes I will be completing my days here and I will get Passport sooner.
please correct me if I am wrong, or any other suggestions are welcome.

You have to be a cdn citizen to apply for a cdn passport ....

Here is an extract from the website:
You can use the residence calculator to check if you have lived in Canada long enough to be eligible for citizenship. It can help you determine if you should apply now or wait until later. You can also print the calculation and attach a copy to your “Application for Canadian Citizenship – Adults.”
Re read: "... you have lived in Canada long enough to be .... "
You also have to sign the application form that says something like: "above info is true to best of my knowledge ... blah blah blah"
I would suggest to apply after completion of 3 yrs as per that residence calculator.

I think you are confusing between becoming a Canadian Citizen and applying for a passport. If you apply for Citizenship, then there are chances that it might take one year if they ask for finger prints and additional screening.
Once you get Citizenship, getting a passport is relatively easy. You can get passport within couple of days.
