Praveen

What is your opinion on the balooning timelines for the in-Canada portion of parental sponsorships? Is this a deliberate ploy of CIC to discourage parental sponsorships?

The issue has been raised at different conferences and forums. The only response from CIC is that processing family class applications to sponsor parents is not on the priority list. Some things you and I do not have a control on.

It is unfortunate sad and harsh, but obviously it won't be a priority for CIC and Canada govt.
Their priority is to get young immigrants who are able and willing to work and pay taxes into the canadian system so that they can sustain this welfare state.
They don't won't parents and grandparents who are a "burden" to the health care and welfare system.
They know that once immigrants are here, they will do any kind anything to establish themsleves, which means the govt. makes money through taxes.
If parents/grandparents were required to bring in settlement funds like new immigrants then the process would have been a lot faster :o

CIC may make that a requirement in the future to further discourage parental sponsorships. You never know
