Hi guys,
My wife is on parental leave. She received benefit for 15 weeks as of today. My son will be 1 year old in July and parental benefit will be stop from that point. Total she will have received benefit for approx. 23 weeks even if it has approved for 35 weeks.
Before going on parental leave, she worked for 640 hours. Now, there is no more vacancy to go back.
Does she eligible for regular EI benefit?
As per link below, she may be eligible for regular benefit.

Anyone have an experience?
What should she suppose to take care when going to ask for regular EI benefit after parental?
Thanks in Advance.

Success is Never Ending and Failure is Never Final.
Your post is not very clear and hence I will discuss in general.
NO EI (parental, Maternity, unemployment) benefit is payable after 52 weeks from your son's birth. So YOU CANOT CLAIM anything after July (when your son turns 1).
If you say that your wife has been allowed 15 weeks of maternity and 35 weeks of parental leave,(and your son is one year old at the end of all this leave) then that is it. You canot claim EI even if you have no job to return to as EI is payed only if you have worked in the last 52 weeks (which your wife has obviously not due to the maternity leave).
however, she will be eligible of Ontario skills Development, in which she can do a course for $28,000 max (tution, living expense, books) and the course is sponsered for a max. period of 1 year. Your reach back is 3 years since your EI ended.
All the best

as per the link tamilkumaran has posted:
After receiving maternity, parental or sickness benefits
A notice of last payment will be issued to you saying that you have received all the maternity, parental or sickness benefits to which you are entitled. If you don't have a job to go back to, you may be able to receive regular EI benefits without a waiting period. To find out if regular benefits can be paid to you, call our telephone information service at 1 800 206-7218 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and press "0" to speak to a representative. You can also write us or go in person to your Service Canada Centre.
if you dont have job to go back to work, means your company dosent take u back then u can go and apply for regular EI benifits.

Hi meitsme, any update, what happened ? Can one get Ei after mat leave ?
Lets say in mid of mat leave (after 6 months) you are informed that you have been laid off along with other staff, then can you get regular EI after your mat leave finishes or you loose 6 mnths of regular EI ?
This is confusing ..
Here: it say u may be entitled to get EI
A notice of last payment will be issued to you saying that you have received all the maternity, parental or sickness benefits to which you are entitled. If you don't have a job to go back to, you may be able to receive regular EI benefits without a waiting period.
and on same page :
"Maternity, parental and sickness benefits " COMBINED" with regular EI benefits"
You may receive up to 50 weeks - means if mom is on full Mat leave ( which is 50 weeks) then she cant get EI
so what do we understand from this ?
My wife is on maternity leave for full 50 weeks, what happen if she dosent have job after Mat leave ?
