I am not trying to defend such attacks against Indians in foreign countries. But let’s practice before we preach.
Before pointing fingers at Australia or Canada, let's take take a good look at the way we treat foreigners in India. Not a day passes by without rape, molestation or murder of some foreign tourist in India. Even minors are not spared and ironically the Indian govt. hasn't taken any steps so far to curb this teething problem.
Here's a recent incident
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Cities/Canadian-woman-molested-on-train/articleshow/4642439.cms
and the following travel advisory has been issued by US Dept. of state regarding travel to India
http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1139.html#crime
"U.S. citizens, particularly women, are cautioned not to travel alone in India. Western women continue to report incidents of physical harassment by groups of men. Known as ”Eve-teasing,” these incidents can be quite frightening. While India is generally safe for foreign visitors, according to the latest figures by Indian authorities, rape is the fastest growing crime in India. Among large cities, Delhi experienced the highest number of crimes against women. Although most victims have been local residents, recent sexual attacks against female visitors in tourist areas underline the fact that foreign women are also at risk and should exercise vigilance."
Shouldn't we be ashamed of such a warning? When something happens to us, we become cry babies and make hell lot of noise so that someone would garb our pinky fingers and lead us out of trouble. But at the same time we keep us ourselves insulated from the plight of foreigners in India. Isn't this sissy and selfish?
Even in North America, our attitude towards locals is smeared with extreme prejudice. If I collect a dollar every time a desi utters gora, kallu, makku or chinki, I would become a millionaire in months. The pot shouldn't call the kettle black.

Somebody had raised a similar theme, in the Australian thread and people had respond it (just very recently).
It serves no point to discuss it again and again.
Ladies and Gentleman - Ignore this comments below. Move onto the next point.
