Indians are equally racist , but because we have been supressed by the british 200 years it is ok if pass racist comments and be llttle other people..
The western countries the people are racist but are working towards overcoming their prejudice , thats the only difference..
Indians complaining about racism makes me laugh..
We say kala , gora, hindu , sikh, muslim, harijan , brahmin , maratha, panjabi , marathi, tamil , the list is endless..All these are forms of racism...
Come on guys... As this thread looks like fighting within.
As 200 years back East India Company successfully managed to fight people with one another and easily managed to rule not only on Indian continent but almost all over the world.
It gives all of us a "high" when we discuss how we are treated abroad...... especially in respect of our skin color. It is human nature, not to describe our good experiences, but to dwell on the not so good ones. How often do we write about the good things about any country - say the clean air, the clean food or the least corrupt public officials?
The human race wants to dwell on the negative aspects of life. There are millions of Indians who work abroad, are healthy and wealthy, and successful from every angle of life. We do not want to be proud of them, but the moment we find a "racist" attack, we spare no effort to keep such news alive. We like to be in the news, even as we paint ourselves as helpless victims. That is what happens to things abroad.
Closer to home, we have a different story. We have divisions of caste, community, state and even region. We hate others because they are different. Someone from coastal Andhra is hated by someone from Telangana, so much so that there is a "Telangana Development forum" in Canada. Only those who were born in the Telangana region can become members here. How many of us have the courage to marry off our kids to someone from another community? Will a die hard vegetarian in India (or here) rent his house to someone who is a meat eater? How many friends do we have from a different religion. We make fun of every south Indian (be he or she from any of the four states) as a "Madrasi". We make fun of sikhs, and crack nasty jokes about them. We make fun of other communities - a Gujarati is a " gujju", and a Keralite is a "scheming Mallu". Someone from Rajasthan is a "Kanjoos marwadi". We stereotype every other community, because they are "different". This may not be "racism", but isn't that a clear case of "dislike and discrimination"?
How many Hindus Christians and Muslims join together to celebrate Diwali, Christmas, or Ramzan? When there are communal riots what are our feelings? don't we say........... "serves them right"?..
At the root of all this, is our fragmented, hypocritical society. Most of us are hypocrites, who do not practice what we preach.
I do not condone racism, but before we cry foul, should we not do something to bring Indians closer to each other? The only time that happens, is when we are at war with another country....... and once the war is over, we go back to hating each other!

Ummm, how is this any different than the "Jai Maharashtra" movement where non marathi people are harrassed and asked to leave Bombay?
Like how apples are different than oranges!
