How long does it take to get OCI after the oath, if you want to lets say permanantly move to INdia? Can you apply in India itself? or it has to be applied when you surrender Indian Passport at nearest indian mission in Canada? I know it does take time to get OCI, but lets say if you want to go to India before then, do you need visa in mean time?
Any reply would be appreciated
Oath for Canadian citizenship has nothing to do with OCI as such.
OCI takes a minimum of one month after it is recieved by Indian Consulate. Yes, you can get Indian visa on your canadian passport and apply for OCI in India.

Also, you do not have to "surrender" your passport to the Indian consulate. When you go for the OCI/PIO/Visa after getting your Canadian citizenship, they will stamp "Cancelled as the Owner acquired foreign nationality" and give it back to you.

OCI from India should probably take 1-2 months. All documents from Indian consulates abroad go to India for processing OCI. Please see OCI section in mha.nic.in

If your intention is to apply for OCI immediately after landing in India, then a 6 month visitors visa will do. OCI application from India should not take more than 2-3 months(if application is in order). PIO ($480) will not be cost-effective for an adult v/c OCI ($421). However, if you have kids, it makes sense to apply for PIO ($240) and then convert to OCI for an additional $40
How long is the processing time in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan? Any ideas? Heard it takes almost a year and half in Alberta? Thank you.
